While it’s common knowledge that good skincare starts with cleansing and ends with moisturising, what should or could take place in the middle can sometimes be a mystery.
Enter serums. Targeted, multifunctional skin saviours. And your quick, easy way to ramp up the results of your skincare routine in one smooth sweep.
What is a serum?
Serums are, most commonly, ultra-light, water-based skincare treatments. They contain a higher concentration of specific actives in the formula which, when applied to clean skin, penetrate quickly and deeply to target specific skincare concerns both instantly and over time.
It’s a common misconception that serums can replace your moisturiser. While they help hydrate skin, they are water-based and so don’t create enough of a barrier on the surface of skin to prevent trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). You should therefore apply them after cleansing and toning, underneath your regular moisturiser.
What do serums do?
Serums penetrate ingredients deeper into your skin, providing you with a more intense injection of nutrients. Make sure you seal in these benefits with a moisturiser. ESPA offers a host of serums to meet your specific skincare goals…
