ESPA’s Guide to Winter Hair

In the colder month’s your hair and scalp can suffer just as much as your skin and body when the mercury drops and central heating comes on.

Exposed to the elements, over styled, pulled up and hidden under hats and scarves, follow our guide to enviable condition and beautiful vitality all winter long.

Treatment Mask

Over styling, especially in the winter, can dry your hair and scalp making them more susceptible to damage. Helping to combat this, we suggest that at least once a week you apply Pink Hair & Scalp Mud as an intensively nourishing treatment.

Massaging into scalp and through damp hair before shampooing, leave for 20 minutes (or overnight if preferred) and rinse before your usual shampoo and conditioner.

Deeply hydrating and nourishing from scalp to tip, hair is left unbelievably manageable.

You could even add a little Regenerating Face Treatment Oil to your Pink Hair & Scalp Mud when applying, as recommended by one of our ESPA loving customers. Giving hair an extra boost of nourishment, your hair will be super shiny, luxuriously soft and incredibly healthy.

Hydrate and Wash

Although the cold often calls for hot baths or showers to warm up, avoid where possible washing hair in hot water. Instead wash with warm or cool water to avoid over stimulating the sweat glands on your scalp that can cause your hair to look limp.

Opting for gentle shampoo and conditioners such as our Purifying Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner, spend some time massaging shampoo into your scalp to stimulate healthy hair growth and comb conditioner right through to your ends to protect each strand.

Added protection

If you suffer from spilt ends, apply a little Skin Rescue Balm to the tips of dry hair. Containing a wonderful blend of Tri-Active formulas including Blackcurrant Seed, Canola Oils, Sea Fennel and Manuka and Tamanu Oils, hair will feel manageable, restored and exquisitely protected.

Eat well

Diet is essential when looking after your hair, and has added benefits to other parts of your body as well as overall wellbeing.

Eating your way to healthy hair to encourage fuller, thicker growth, opt for foods containing high quality protein such as chicken and fish, as well as increasing iron through foods such as red meat and spinach. Omega 3s are also incredibly important, so be sure to eat oily fish such as salmon once to twice a week and snack on nuts.
